MEET SOMEONE MAGNIFICENT
STEP 5: Destiny
Jesus came to announce that the amazing power of God’s kingdom was now at people’s fingertips.“The time has come. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news!” As it says in the Lord’s Prayer the kingdom is God’s liberating will being done “on earth as it is in heaven.” When you say ‘Yes’ to Jesus, you’re saying yes to his kingdom rule; that is, you want him to ‘king-it’ in your life here on earth. He is becoming your ‘Master’, but the only one whose service is perfect freedom, full of love and joy. Turning around from going your own way to following Jesus’ way is what the Bible means by ‘repentance’.
When you turn around, receive Jesus as your Saviour and Master, and ask him to flood your life with his Holy Spirit, several important things happen:
• You are completely forgiven for all sins. God will never hold them against you.
• God’s own life, his ‘DNA’, comes into you, and you are born again spiritually.
• You become a true child of God.
• Your destiny begins in God’s kingdom.
• The Father and the Son live in your heart by the Holy Spirit. Amazing!
Step 5 then is accepting Jesus – his salvation and rescue – saying ‘No’ to the foolishness of the past and ‘Yes’ to his rule in your life. You might pray something like this (God’s ear is in just front of your mouth and he hears the smallest whisper):
Father, I come home to you now because you have loved me even when I was lost and rebelled against your way. I am so sorry that I thought life was to be found somewhere else. Please forgive me. I acknowledge Jesus as my Saviour and I give my life to him now. Make me your child and a citizen of your kingdom, and fill me, baptise me, with your Holy Spirit. I reject every idea and action that is contrary to your will and I submit myself joyfully to Jesus Christ. Amen… or YES!
